Influencer Endorsed Beauty Products
It’s no secret that celebrities have been influencing our fashion and beauty buys from the second they opened their social media accounts. We know it. The celebs know it. And the brands know it. But conventional celebrities (your actors, singers, socialites, reality TV stars) aren’t the only ones who have an impact in what we buy anymore, thanks to the ever-growing number of social media influencers on the scene.
A lot of people regard themselves as Instagram famous these days. But there’s a big difference between being Insta-famous and boasting the title of a true influencer. And one of the big signs to look out for when it comes to differentiating the big influencers of our time from the wannabes is how many companies are lining up to work with them. We’re not talking the typical “we’ll send you a free T-shirt if you tell your followers where it’s from” – we’re talking all-out fashion and beauty collaborations. Does your favorite social media star fall into that category?
Many of our favorite beauty brands have teamed up with famous faces – celebrities and influencers alike – to make sell-out collections, and we can’t seem to get enough of them. After all, with fashion and beauty brands turning to influencer marketing more and more, the collaborations makes perfect financial sense. The advertising pretty much pays for itself…
While there are hundreds if not thousands of collaborations that are dreamed up, not all of them turn out to be the roaring success that the brands and celebs alike hope for. We’re going to take a look at just a few of our favorite beauty brand and celebrity/influencer collaborations, as well as products that have come from social media influencers alone. Yes Huda Kattan, we’re looking at you…
Huda Kattan’s Huda Beauty brand
We can’t begin talking about influencer beauty collections without mentioning the OG herself. Make-up artist turned influencer turned businesswoman Huda Kattan’s brand, Huda Beauty, started with a modest line of false eyelashes and has expanded into foundations, lip kits, and some of the most luxurious and stunning eyeshadow palettes we’ve ever seen.
Fun fact: Huda Beauty is reportedly the first social media beauty influencer brand to attract private equity investment, which doesn’t surprise us in the slightest. And the brand is expanding even further, as the influencer teased the release of a Huda Beauty perfume on her Facebook show, Huda Boss. If the success of her other products are anything to go by, we’re predicting an instant sell-out!
Makeup Geek x MannyMUA
When big brands meet big vloggers, gargantuan things are bound to happen! The proof is in the Makeup Geek x MannyMUA collaboration. The collection was such a big hit when it first launched a year and a half ago, with the eyeshadow palette selling out again and again before it went permanently out of stock. A sad day for make-up lovers around the world! You can get your hands on pre-owned ones if you have hundreds of dollars (!!) to spare… or you can look at some of our other beauty/influencer collaborations instead.
Patrick Starrr x MAC
MAC has collaborated with many a celeb in the past – from Ariana Grande to Lady Gaga, there has been no shortage of famous faces. However, the make-up brand is catching up with the times, and has launched its very own collaboration with Patrick Starrr – one of the biggest influencers of all. We can only imagine how many collaboration proposals Starrr has received over the years, but it makes perfect sense for him to team up with one of the biggest and most well-known make-up brands in the world over smaller ones. The collection consists of everything from lipstick to eyeshadow to setting powder, among other things, and has proven extremely successful since its launch in December.
The brand new collection, Summer Starrr full face kit complete with a bronzing powder, two lipglass shades and an eye shadow palette has also been a big hit this summer!
ColorPop Cosmetics x Shayla Mitchell
It was only a matter of time ‘til Shayla Mitchell launched her own collaboration. The Youtuber turned influencer boasts 2.6 million followers on Instagram as well as over 540,000 subscribers to her Makeupshayla YouTube channel, so a highly profitable make-up collaboration was inevitable!
“This collab means so much to me, I put my heart and soul into it,” the beauty influencer said in a YouTube video about the collection. “The colors had to be perfect and they are.”
We adore every single product she has designed alongside ColorPop Cosmetics, with our absolute favorites being a 16-shade Perception Palette, the Bloomin’ luster dust loose highlighter (it’s a dream!) and the three-piece Love Shayla lipstick set.
Derma E x SunKissAlba
Just when we thought we couldn’t love ethical beauty brand Derma E any more, comes its collaboration with clean beauty and lifestyle influencer Alba Garcia, aka SunKissAlba.
The SunKissAlba x DERMA E signature facial oil is a particular favorite thanks to the antioxidants that help nourish and deeply moisturize skin. Plus, the Jojoba, Argan, and Seabuckthorn oils undoubtedly hep your skin smell and feel delicious! This collaboration has the potential to expand to stratospheric new heights, so we’re excited for what the future holds for them.
BH Cosmetics x Raye Boyce
BH Cosmetics is no stranger to high profile collaborations. Its ‘Illuminate by Ashley’ collaboration with High School Musical’s very own Ashley Tisdale was a roaring success, thanks to its ultra-affordable range of cruelty free products. From make-up brushes to the Beach Goddess, Night Goddess and Goddess eyeshadow and blush palettes, as well as liquid lipsticks, bronzers and even liquid tans, there was no end to the delights!
Beauty pro Raye Boyce, aka ‘ItsMyRayeRaye’, complete with her 1.7 million Youtube subscribers and 1.6 million Instagram followers, was a fantastic next step for the brand. Boyce and BH Cosmetics have launched an enviable eyeshadow, highlighter and contour palette complete with 15 matte and shimmer eyeshadows, three contour hues and three highlighters, as well as a nine-piece brush set for face and eyes.
Too Faced x Nikkie Tutorials
Nikkie Tutorials has always kept it real when delivering her down to earth yet hilarious yet extremely informative make-up tutorials, so we were over the moon back in 2016 when her collaboration with Too Faced was announced. The collection wasn’t going to break the bank, but it was going to help us achieve some of those mesmerizing and flawless make-up looks we were so used to seeing from the Youtuber.
We got the best of both worlds with this collaboration, and it comes as no surprise that the collection was a hit for both Nikkie and Too Faced. Our highlights from the debut collection included a purple Better Than Sex Mascara, Shadow Insurance Primer, and of course, an eyeshadow/blush palette to die for!
