Grammys, fashion, red carpet

Sparkles, Velvet, Metallic…Oh My!

Let’s talk Grammys fashion. We saw elegant ballroom dresses, cowboy boots, and twinkly-star-crowns all on the same carpet during this award show! Not to mention the performances which blew us away per usual. We're still not over Kesha’s performance or James Corden’s hilarious hosting and surprise guests. We’ve had a couple days to reflect and debrief with friends and family. Now it’s time to highlight some of our fave looks! Although it was incredibly hard to choose this year because everyone conquered the carpet, we want to put a spotlight on SZA, DJ Khaled and Assad, Janelle Monae, and Kali Uchis.

Although SZA did not win a Grammy, she definitely won our hearts with a glamorous white Atelier Versace gown decorated with curious jewels begging for the spotlight. Immediately, we were captivated by glimmers of icy sparkles as queen SZA  strolled down the carpet. Elegantly placed slits along the dress produced a lustrous waterfall affect as the gown met the floor. According to an exclusive on VOGUE.com, although SZA does not typically wear white looks, she has been fond of the color as of lately. SZA looks amazing in white and we are so glad she decided to grace the carpet in this truly unforgettable gown.

Of course we also have to discuss DJ Khaled and his adorable son, Asahd. If you’ve been paying attention to Instagram or Twitter lately, then you know about the Internet’s shared love and admiration for the two-year old producer and fashion guru. As Asahd is credited as a producer on Khaled’s album Grateful, this award show is just as important for him as it is for DJ Khaled. And what better way to attend your first Grammy ceremony then decked out in a red velvet suit matching dad’s? DJ Khaled perfectly summed up their looks in a conversation with host, Ryan Seacrest saying, ‘You know we gotta do it big - like father, like son.’

Lastly, Kali Uchis gave us retro, supernova babe looks in a metallic-pink jumpsuit by Kim Shui Studio. Uchis has given us throwback fits before, but the complexity of this ensemble definitely stands out because she somehow manages to express the past, present and future all in one look. Uchis’ bold lip demands attention and pairs perfectly with the jumpsuit to create a sultry magenta vibe that we are in love with! The reflective properties of this look are deliberate and divine; Uchis’ nails are essentially metallic-gold coated claws that intimidate, yet infatuate us as the gold polish melts into the metallic suit. Yes, yes, and yes!!
