The Primetime Emmy Awards entered their 69th year celebrating big names from the small screen. Celebrities graced the red carpet wearing refined, custom evening wear in an array of sleek designs, bold colors, sparkles of silver, slits, fur and feathers. There were some show-stopping styles that pushed the boundaries of Hollywood glam, taking risks that were both edgy and stylish. The fashion ante was at an all-time high with printed patterns and daring statements. Here is our list of best dressed looks of the night.

Jessica Biel in Ralph & Russo was definitely at the top of our list, reminding us that you can be both sexy and elegant at the same time.

The 10 ladies below reminded us that a play on color can make all the difference. Gabrielle Union, in Zuhair Murad, was one of only a few celebrities embracing the belief that a black gown will always be in style. Angela Sarafyan went bold in a gorgeous Elizabeth Kennedy daffodil yellow gown, and Priyanka Chopra glittered in sequins and jeweled Balenciaga.

Sofia Vergara elegantly embraced her curves in Mark Zunino, giving us plenty of wedding gown vibes in all the right ways.

Issa Rae was stunning in a red Vera Wang gown with some exposed shoulder play.

And then there was the suiting.  Master of None’s Lena Waithe, the first black woman nominated (and a win!) for a comedy writing at the Emmy Awards, was especially saavy in a gold embellished tuxedo jacket that stole the spotlight.

Tessa Thompson made an entrance in a Rosie Assoulin halter dress in dazzling colors.

Yara Shahidi looked like a princess in a  nude silk custom Prada gown touched with a stitched belt and glossy embellishments.
