In today’s market social media is an essential part of building a brand’s success. A number of both established and emerging brands are looking at social media networks through a sales lens and utilizing outdated advertising-style practices that are no longer applicable.
In this special #Amplified 3-part series we’re taking on Social Media and the Top 3 Common Mistakes Brands Make. Part one is focused on breaking down the assumption that a high number of followers alone will correlate to a high number of sales.
It is true that social media platforms are incredibly useful in supporting sales initiatives but the relationship between social platforms and sales is not a direct one.
A high number of followers will contribute to higher brand exposure and brand awareness, but not necessarily to sales. The great thing is, brand exposure and awareness are often more important when it comes to building long term relationships with potential customers (and can eventually lead to sales).
No matter how many followers your brand page has, it’s important to focus on increasing your engagement and building relationships with your audience. When you take the time to engage with your audience and build real relationships, you’re also generating brand loyalty, which is invaluable.
Rather than focusing on sales-driven language and imagery, we advise focusing on balancing your content. Audiences don’t want to be sold to all the time. Quality content is another key part of a successful social media campaign.
We’ll be discussing common mistakes regarding social media content in Part Two of our Social Media Mistakes series.
